Tiveden Americana Songwriting Camp & Festival
Tiveden Americana is an international songwriting camp and cultural exchange program held in the forest region of Sweden. Co-founded in 2015 by Drew Young and Åke Lundström, the initiative was created to bring together professional songwriters, artists, and music industry representatives from across the world in a setting designed for focused creativity and meaningful connection.
The program is built to foster collaboration, cross-cultural exchange, and professional development within the broader roots, folk, and singer-songwriter traditions. Through carefully curated writing groups, shared prompts, and immersive dialogue, participants are encouraged to stretch beyond geographic and stylistic boundaries while remaining grounded in authentic storytelling.
Tiveden blends intensive songwriting collaboration with industry education, cultural immersion, and public performance opportunities. Songs written during the camp are presented in live showcases, offering audiences a glimpse into the creative process and giving writers a platform to share new work born from international partnership.
At its core, Tiveden is guided by values of authenticity, artistic integrity, community building, and long-term creative sustainability. It serves as a meeting place where regional music cultures connect through shared storytelling traditions, building relationships and creative networks that extend far beyond the forest.
