LONG PLAY BIO

Drew Young is an Americana singer-songwriter, educator, and cultural producer based in Mississippi whose work bridges Southern roots traditions with global creative exchange. A full-time touring artist for more than two decades, Young performs 45–50 shows annually across the United States, the United Kingdom, and Europe, earning a reputation for emotionally direct songwriting, conversational live performances, and songs that translate seamlessly from full-band festival stages to intimate listening rooms.
A strong advocate for listening room culture, Young has built much of his career in songwriter-in-the-round settings and curated performance spaces where songs take precedence over spectacle. Whether backed by a band or performing solo with an acoustic guitar, his shows are known for warmth, narrative depth, and a distinct Gulf South sensibility that invites audiences into the stories behind the music.
Young’s catalog spans more than 90 published songs and has accumulated over six million streams worldwide, with placements across television and film including Party of Five, Pensacola: Wings of Gold, The Big Easy, Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, and ESPN programming. His songwriting blends autobiographical storytelling with broader themes of resilience, growth, and personal transformation, placing his work firmly within the modern Americana tradition while remaining deeply rooted in Southern narrative lineage.
Beyond the stage, Young is an active creative strategist and educator. He has taught songwriting, music business, and creative development at institutions including Loyola University New Orleans, The University of Southern Mississippi, University of Colorado Denver, and Berklee College of Music. His teaching emphasizes practical creative sustainability — equipping artists with the tools to build long-term careers that balance artistic integrity with economic viability.
Young is also the founder of Tiveden Americana Songwriting Camp & Festival in Sweden, an international songwriting and cultural exchange initiative bringing together artists and industry professionals from across Europe, North America, and beyond. The program reflects his broader mission: connecting regional music cultures through shared storytelling traditions and building long-term international creative networks.
Whether performing 50 nights a year, teaching emerging artists, or developing cross-border creative programs, Drew Young’s work is grounded in authenticity, community building, and a deep belief that songs remain one of the most powerful tools for cultural connection.
